Reader Appreciation Week Giveaways Begin

EDIT: Entires are now closed!

This time of year, I do a lot of thinking about this space: whether to continue, how to make it better, what new direction I might take. Lost Coast Post will turn ten in 2016 and this blog exists because I like rambling on about my art adventures and because I hope that some of my thoughts on life & art-making with chronic health issues are helpful to readers who may have their own challenges. You, dear readers, are what bring this space alive: your comments, questions, and encouragement - whether vocal or silent - keep pushing me forward, keep driving me to share and wonder and explore.

So I've decided to institute a "Reader Appreciation Week," featuring four days of small giveaways to say thank you to all of you for showing up here over the years. Entering the giveaways is easy-peasy: just click on the "comments" button and leave your name, where you're from, and a working email. International entries are welcome...if you promise to let me know if a prize arrives. I've had a few difficulties mailing overseas in the last couple of years (lost packages break my heart) but I want every reader - near and far - to have a chance to win.

I'm kicking off this week of giveaways with a set of 6 professionally printed cards featuring my art. There'll be 2 winners today - one domestic and one international. (Don't forget to add where you're from in your comment!)

Entries for all giveaways this week will close at 5pm PST, Saturday December 5th, 2015. Winners will be chosen randomly and announced Monday, December 7th. Mailings will go out as soon as I have received mailing info from the winners.

If, in leaving your comment, you can answer one of the following questions...well, that would be wonderful for me but not required for you. Feedback helps me tremendously - as it does every blogger - and I would be thrilled to read your answers.

  • How long have you been a Lost Coast "Postie?" (In other words, how long have you been a reader?)
  • I post about many different things. What most interests you about my blog or the art I share?
  • Is there anything that I haven't wrote about or done here at LCP that you'd like to see?
Thank you to all of you for taking a moment from your busy lives to spend some time with me. Thank you for enduring my often wordy posts and sometimes unpredictable posting schedule. Thank you for all the warm thoughts about my art and my health. Thank you for keeping me company in this teeny-tiny corner of the vast internet that I call home!

Golly ... trying to remember when I first started following your blog -- several years for sure. I don't always leave a comment, but I always read your posts. Love your art -- love the color. I'm in Houston, Tx ... twisty lane at aol dot com.

Hola Michelle :) I hope you are having a nice Monday. I think i have been following you since 2012 and i discovered you through Tammy of Daisy Yellow. It must have been either a mention of you or you had left a comment there and i was curious and clicked your blog.I really like all works in progress. Any kind of sketching, sculpting, robot building, art journaling and so on.Collage is the least interesting for me.I have tried many things from watercolor wednesdays, too. Thank you for putting these together. I am really eager to see how a painting evolves from idea to canvas and finish. Would you consider recording one of your art work in the future? Perhaps while you are getting ready for your next art show. This is Ozge from Izmir, Turkey. (yes i am perhaps the furthest representative of the international followers :) ozgebasagac at yahoo dot com

Wow, not sure how long I've been following you, quite a while, at least 2 or 3 years. I love the different projects you work on, your use of bright colours, and your drawings. And I loved your series of Snippets. I always like to see projects from start to finish, or work in progress, and I love tutorials. I'm Denise from Belgium, denthearts at hotmail dot com :-)

Well, now, I remember Elizabeth AND Reuss (and the name change), so I am thinking perhaps it's been since 2006, when I began blogging myself. As they say, time flies when you're having fun! {winkwink}.

Dear Michelle, It's hard to remember when I started reading your blog--several years. Many times I have started to comment, but I stop, don't know why, but I don't comment on any other blogs either. I read each and every post and enjoy them all. I love your "monsters" Or what I like to think of as Monster children. I would love to see your Art show in the summer, but being in North Carolina you are just a little too far away. I love your style and your honesty. I would love to learn more about your sculptures and how you make them. Keep up the good work--It's great!

Hi, Michelle,
I've been following your blog since August of 2014, and I really enjoy seeing what you've created. I especially like the way you divided your days in your art journal, and I loved seeing all the artwork you created there. When you recently started concentrating on your drawings again, that inspired me to work more on small drawings in one of my daybooks.
I'm from New Braunfels, Texas, and when I signed in today to comment, my email address is given there for any follow-up comments. I hope that is visible for you for my email address.
So glad that you're feeling strong this week and making plans for the future!

Hi Michelle! I have been reading your blog for about a year. I came across it in Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's linky list one day. I love the fact that I don't know what will be posted each time - watercolor, monsters, collage, illustration - it's all wonderful to look at. And you have a way with words too which makes it nice to read. Thanks for putting it all out into the world! Mary Jo (mjmullen at charter dot net)
Jessica, Crofton, MD. I've been following your blog for a couple of years now and I really enjoy your art journal posts.

You blog has a LOT to see and enjoy and I will definitely visit it many more times for inspiration. I love collaging, so many of your posts appeal to my love for the 'slap some scraps together' technique. Would LOVE to win in your givaway.

Hi Michelle,

Jen from NH here. I've been following your blog for about a year, I get rss feeds from your site into feedly and always enjoy them. I guess my favorite thing is just seeing the wonderful images and also any tidbits you provide about design choices or inspirations you have. I also like a nice tip or trick too!

Ooh, lovely goodies. I love postcards, and decorate my studio walls with them. I've been following your blog for a few years now, can't say exactly how long, I think two or three? I know I came across your blog through someone elses, but that's all I remember.
I actually love the variety in your blog. I'm a varied artsy person myself so I totally get that even though my art is mostly 2D. I think I like your colourful journals best. I especially fell in love with your snippets journal. And the monster paintings were adorable too.

You should be able to contact me through my google account as I'm logged in to comment.

Oh, and I'm living on the beautiful island Vlieland, north of The Netherlands.

I love seeing all your colorful work! My favorites are probably your art journal and animal paintings. I'm not sure how long I've been reading, but I'd guess a couple years.
